Around here, Mark Parker is known as the guy who draws his coworkers during meetings. That’s because⦠well, he tends to draw his coworkers during meetings. (Makes sense.) In fact, Mark so enjoys this hobby that he insisted on drawing the guy who wrote this bio while he was being interviewed for it. The result was sort of like when you hold a mirror up to a mirror and create an infinite universe of mirrors. Only instead of mirrors this was one guy drawing another guy writing about the one guy drawing the other guy.
At any rate, Mark is a Senior Art Director who came to Fleming & Van Metre in 2006 after a brief 18-and-a-half-year stint with Parker & Partners (no relation). He earned his degree from the Tyler School of Art at Temple University in 1987, where he was classically trained and developed a strong background in the visual arts and art history (things he believes today’s students should be taught “at the point of a conte crayon”). Mark is decidedly old school, with a keen eye for the Gothic and Renaissance periods. He’s also a big fan of the Three Stooges, though he “doesn’t condone their behavior.” When asked to name his favorite Stooge, Mark chooses Moe — “the glue,” he says, “that held it all together.”
Mark currently lives in Westmont, NJ. He is the proud father of two sons, Oliver and Quinn, as well as the husband of his lovely wife, Kimberly. In his spare time, he enjoys movies, Philly sports, and studying extinct species. The proud breeder of countless turtles and tortoises, and a firm believer that things shouldn’t go to waste, the freegan — i.e., dumpster diving — community has a true friend in Mark Parker.
By the way, at some point during the second paragraph, Mark drew a picture of you.
